Back in the USSR: Soviet Internet domain name resists death (AP)

Posted by Yahoo! News: Technology News on April 18, 2008

The front page of the ussr.su Web site seen on a computer screen, in Moscow, Thursday, April 3, 2008. The site belongs to a Russian cyber squatter who wants to sell it - or any other domain name listed on the page - for USD $3,000. The .su country code domain that belongs to the defunct Soviet Union has witnessed a flood of new customers attached by nostalgia to Soviet past or just a chance to have a Web site with an easily recognizable name.
